Semi-privacy is also known as shadowbox or good neighbour style. From a perpendicular view you will not see through but when on an angle you will. It provides privacy with the ability to still see through and talk to your neighbour. This style looks identical on both sides and will fall into your mid range for price.
Full-privacy (boards overlapping) is exactly as it sounds. All the fence boards are installed on one side of the framing in 2 layers. The first layer is spaced similarly to semi-privacy, then a second layer is applied over the gaps to give full-privacy. This style is not identical on both sides as one neighbour will have framing and the other will have the boards. There are trim options to make both sides look the same. This style will fall into your mid range for price.
Full-privacy (boards butted) is another full-privacy option but more budget friendly as it uses the least amount of boards. Boards get pushed tight together when installed. Things to consider when choosing this option is like the other full-privacy style both sides are not identical without adding trim. Also as the boards dry out they will shrink, this will leave a small gap (roughly between 1/8" - 1/4") between every board. This style is on the cheaper end of styles.
Lattice refers to thin slats running diagonally and crisscross to each other to give a decorative finish to the top of the fence. The standard lattice height adds an additional 1 foot of height although it can be customized. Typically it is done with 5 foot fence boards semi-privacy style creating a standard 6 foot high fence.
There are multiple options to add additional height when you want a fence over 6 feet tall.
1) Lattice adds decorative wooden slats that run diagonally and crisscross. It is the most expensive option.
2) I-beam adds 3 pieces of lumber on top creating the look of an I-beam. It is the mid range for cost.
3) Partial I-beam is similar to the I-beam with the the exception of the final piece on top. It is the most economical way to achieve additional height.
Chain link is a great economical option with zero maintenance. A properly installed chain link fence will last a very long time while providing security. It comes in 4 and 5 foot heights in black or galvanized (grey).
If unique is what you want we have custom options. From various horizontal styles to chain link on wood framing the possibilities are endless. If you can think of it we can do it.
